Our story

How we got our start?
pedag was founded by Hartmut Schelchen, who established his reputation by making high quality insoles, orhtotics, shoe care products and shoe trees. In 1975, the company’s original brand name HS Schuhbedarf was changed to pedag Intl. “pedag” is derived from the Latin word pedes, meaning foot.

What makes our product unique?
pedag products are hand made in Germany from natural materials, such as cotton, bamboo, leather, cork, silver ion, wool and shearling. During a rigorous quality hand making process only water-based skin friendly adhesives are used. Leathers are vegetable tanned and no solvents are applied.

Why we love what we do?
Day by day, 170 employees are concerned with producing high-quality insoles, arch supports, heel cushions and other orthotics that contribute to maintaining foot health. pedag’s goal has always been to promote the natural and healthy way of walking.

Spray onto clean surface at least 12 inches away creating mist. Allow to dry outside for 15 minutes. Repeat for superior performance. Must be used only outdoors or in well ventilated areas. Wear a mask. Do not breath vapors!!!
